The long-term public recreation plan for the property is in design. Current discussions are focused on developing opportunities for “silent recreation activities” and protecting wildlife habitat.
The preserve offers woodlands and trails for hiking, biking, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, exploring, bird watching, and other silent activities. This property will be open to the public through access on Five Mile Road.
More than 100 species of animals live on this property. Surrounding areas are zoned residential, which would make this property a safe harbor for wildlife as the lots become developed. Check out this zoning map of East Bay township.
